Book Talk Radio Club Newsletter July 2017

Hi Book Lover!

It’s been a busy few months since I launched Book Talk Radio Club. Did you know I launched it because as a self-published author, I know how difficult, time consuming and expensive it can be to market your own work. I was let down very badly at the last minute by a national radio station for an interview that would have reached thousands of potential readers, rather than be downcast by this, I thought to hell with it, I'll do it myself and start an online radio station kind of like talk radio but book talk radio and give my fellow self-published authors the voice they deserve and the marketing and promotion they desperately need. I’m proud to say I have received some wonderful reviews from Book Talk Radio Club’s authors (you can view them here and here). Recently, someone on Facebook told me that self-publishing wasn’t the ‘real deal’ and that any one that self-published couldn’t call themselves a proper author. I disagree with that entirely - I will defend indie authors until the day I die. We have a huge and steep learning curve from writing our books to editing, formatting, pricing (in different currencies and on different sales platforms) and then we have to get out of our safe little writing place and learn how to market and promote our hard work. Indie authors are most definitely the real deal!

Welcome to Book Talk Radio Club:

Wendy L. Anderson, a Colorado native and mother of two boys, is a devout reader of the classics, fantasy, sci-fi and historical fiction, she has decided it is time to write down the fantasies from her own mind. Writing about everything from fantastical worlds to the stuff of her dreams, she likes to take her stories along interesting paths while portraying worlds she sees in her mind's eye. Her goal is to deviate from common themes, write in original directions and transport her reader to the worlds of her creation. Wendy's interview is coming on Saturday 29 July 2017

Romeo J. Ballayan is a BSW graduate from the University of Central Florida. Romeo has worked as a Medical and Non-medical Case Manager for several years. He has primarily provided services for clients who have struggled with drug and alcohol misuse, mental health disorders, and HIV/AIDS. His clients have all expressed challenges with mental and physical abuse, suicidal ideations, and poor self-esteem. His goal has always been to bring clients to their own awareness, which is where he believes real, meaningful healing truly begins. He was inspired to write this book while encouraging his clients to work through their deeply rooted pain as he overcame his own. Listen to Romeo's interview here

Danny Bell, author of Empty Threat, a fantasy novel. 'Elana Black has the power to make herself fictional. But when she decides to start saving all the people in books and TV shows who die just for the sake of advancing the plot, she quickly learns that she's not the only one with her powers. All Elana wants to do is save people. But these others don't want the stories to change, and they'll do everything they can to stop her.' Danny's interview will be coming very soon.

Ginger Baker is a well-travelled Army veteran who has been able to use her love for travel, and her love of rhymes, to teach children wonderful lessons about the world! She has six grandchildren who constantly inspire her work, and they are always eager to hear her newest stories. Her book Virginia’s Magical Balloon is a charming story of a little girl called Virginia who travels the world at night visiting places and people she dreams about using her magical blue balloon. Ginger's interview will be coming very soon.

Najwa Hirn In 1998, Najwa's special needs daughter Alexandra was born at 27 weeks gestation, weighing only 12 ounces (349 grams) and measuring 8 inches in length. She remained hospitalized in a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for seven and a half months. This is a journal of Alex’s NICU journey and how her family survived those seven months. It is a story of Faith, Hope, Love and most of all of God’s miraculous intervention that made it possible for Alexandra to survive. It is a story of how God pulled her through those difficult times and gave her the strength to keep on going day after long day and night after night. Listen to Najwa's interview here
