R.J. Eastwood

I am Robert J. Emery, a motion picture & TV writer/director turned novelist under the pen name R.J. Eastwood.
Mr. Emery’s interest in production and all things entertainment began when he served overseas with the Air Force branch of Armed Forces Radio and Television. Upon his discharge from the Air Force he became an announcer and news reporter at WCLE Television in Mansfield, Ohio. He then gravitated to television as the director of a daily one-hour morning talk show hosted by former Miss USA Diana Batts and TV personality Carl Day. The program was taped before a live audience. In 1965 he decided the time was right to write and direct The Bittersweet Night, the first of his eight feature motion
pictures.
Mr. Emery had written 15 screenplays, eight of which were made into feature motion pictures. They are, The Bittersweet Night, Dare the Devil (which began the film career of actor Ray Wise), Willy & Scratch, Scream Bloody Murder, Sign of Aquarius, Ride in a Pink Car, The Florida Connection & Swimming Upstream, which he wrote and directed
for the Lifetime Television Movie Channel. The film won the Sapphire Halo Award for Best Dramatic Motion Picture at the Angel City Film Festival (L.A.).
In 2006 he retired as President of his production company, Media Entertainment, Inc. He remains a member in good standing in the Directors Guild of America (and still votes each year for Best Director). When not traveling abroad he and his wife Susanne make their home in Florida.
